Global Golf Travels is a tale of playing the best golf courses in the U.S. and around the world. But Greg's story focuses on much more than just the golf courses.

Greg met some amazing people along the way including 90-year old Barbara, who still raked her own bunkers, and both President George H.W. Bush  and President George W. Bush on a  rainy day in Maine.

Greg also shares some tips of the trade on how you can start your own "list chasing" adventure.

The book is 400 pages with 40 full color photos of the courses and people Greg visited along the way.

About Greg M. Ohlendorf, the author

Greg's Background

His parents owned a funeral home and ambulance company, and as a result, he didn’t get to travel much while growing up. But after a golf buddy died while he was in college, and later, his dad from Alzheimer’s, he was determined to see the world for them. Chasing golf courses became the vehicle.

How It All Began

A couple of years after he got married, his wife Melissa told him that they needed to take a vacation. The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin was the destination, and  Greg got to play Blackwolf Run the year it opened. His chapter called “It’s All Melissa’s Fault (and She Knows It!)” tells more of the story!

The Lists

Greg became the 44th person (I thought I was the 48th but the master list has changed!) ever to complete Golf Magazine’s World Top 100 list, and he has completed all of their lists between 2005 and 2013. He also became the third person to complete a Golfweek Top 100 Modern and Top 100 Classic from the same year (2010 for him). Also, he has played at least one course in all 50 states. There are only two people that have done all three, with Greg's good friend Paul Rudovsky being the other.

Greg's Favorite Courses

People ask all the time what the best courses are or what Greg's favorites are. The first question is easy as Greg feels Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey is the world’s greatest course. His favorite, though, is the beautiful Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Dornoch, Scotland.

Of course, many others contenders are at or near the top of the World or US Top 100 lists, but hidden gems such as Brora Golf Club and Durness Golf Club, both in the Highlands of Scotland, stir Greg's soul. Finding and playing courses that aren’t on any list bring back some of his most incredible memories.
